Artist Statement III

I’ve been doing art of one kind or another since the 1970s and been writing these artists statements for years. Each time they change a little, or a lot. I’ll keep this one short because words are a favorite tool. I’ll spill a bunch of words somewhere on my site later. . .promise.

I am an artist through and through. Very right brained, they say. In music I play rhythm instruments and sing; sometimes alone and at other times with somebody and at all times I enjoy the music I’m steeped in. Makes sense; why play music you don’t enjoy; or anything else, for that matter.

Ok so now its later and words is the subject. I love to write poetry and do so often. Recently my Muse has had her hand on the faucet of WORDWATER1; pen and paper in hand, word-art comes pouring out. Check the blog.

I paint using acrylics, palette knives, and at other times I use colored pencils, India ink with brushes and dip pens. I enjoy tiny tipped paint pens, and various other tools that happen to be catching dust in the studio. I love to create shifting shapes and it seems every image or sculpture is an experiment. I’ve enjoyed the progression over the years.

These works are reflections of past experiences and/or future dreams or both together I suppose. Viewing these images on the wall somewhere is entertaining because of various perspectives and colors that co-mingle with the viewer’s emotional vista at the moment, what time of day or night it might be and what happened or what you anticipate, etc. There is always room for everybody in these colors.
